Mine is being delivered tomorrow. Although I am 63, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

Show us what it can do and I will post some by this week end.

nice pics, 20x makes a difference and the close up of the squirrel shows a lot of detail,
but not enough for me to upgrade from the S5

Well, it came yesterday around 5:00 pm! Too late to get it ready and get outside to take some shots and this morning is rainy and very overcast.

But, I said I would post some shots after starting this thread, so here we go. For the gloomy conditions, I am happy with the results of my first trys with this camera.

EXIF intact.

George, I do not think you will have any problem at all. I have been shooting with a Canon XTi for the last year and a half. I got tired of trying to be Ansel Adams and making all kinds of settings, so I sold the XTi and bought the SX10 IS.

I have been shooting mostly Scene Modes and trying NOT to set my own exposure. So far, I seem to be getting better shots than I ever have before.

Good luck with the new camera and please post some shots here so we can see how you do.

Other than some cropping and resizing for the web, not much was done to most of them. In ZoomBrowser, I think I used "Auto Adjust", but I don't think it needed much. I find I am getting very good exposure and color with the SX10. You know, I think I may have done "Auto Levels" in Photoshop on the Sparrow.

I was at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago today. I thought I would throw in a few more shots. I forgot I had the camera set on Wide shots.

Franz, would you mind doing a little test please?
Try focusing on a small flower, say 1" diameter or smaller at max zoom.
My S2 used to do this OK I'm sure but now it will initally focus then lose focus.
I got this pic only after many attempts, the flower is maybe 1and 1/2" high.
