I know I didn't do anything wrong whatsoever.

The point is, so many seem to believe that the only way to get a great shot is with RAW and M.

Anyone that has shot sprint cars knows that the races don't last very long, so there is no time to be doing alot of adjustments. So let the camera do the work, as your dealing with alot of things in about 6-7 minutes for a 15 lap feature race.

Your camera is alot smarter than the "M" Zealots would have you believe

But I shot all of these in TV, as I do the vast majority of stuff, and only go to AV for doing stills in the pits type of shots, as I want to control depth of field, due to the busy backgrounds.

Contrary to popular misconception, RAW and M are not always the best choice...and like you said, modern cameras are pretty capable when it comes to picking the correct WB and other shooting parameters. Guess those are fairly passable shots for being all wrong. ;)

A photographer does what he/she needs to do, uses all tools that they have at hand, to get the picture that THEY (the photog or the paying client) wants.

Woulda, coulda and shoulda doen't even count.

You done good ! !

Stan.

Yup, I didn't use RAW, I didn't set a custom WB, I didn't use flash, yet somehow by the grace of God, or the fact that the modern DSLR is alot smarter then you think it is, these shots turned out just fine, save for the noise, but then we have to remember that ISO 800 film was never grain free either.

Nice!

Very nice.

I agree people get to caught up in doing what someone else said works, rather than trying everything for themselves in their particular situation and seeing first person what is and isn't going to work.

The main reason I usually shoot manual is for the fun of it, as for me it's just a hobby. I like manual settings on my camera for the same reasons I like manual transmissions in sports cars, I feel more connected.

Wonderful pics, great color and sharpness, and just the right amount of blur.

Ya I agree, i mean, you didn't shoot RAW, you didn't set white balance. Hell, they HAVE to be junk. Nothing EVER comes out in JPEG.

Great shots, I never shoot RAW unless it is something that will never happen again, like a wedding. And then I still shot Jpg/Raw.

hey keep up the crappie work. Now would you mind posting something that turned out? haha
