The motherboard is warped? The fan being "shot to pieces" aint a problem - I could replace that, but how did the motherboard warp?

Fan failed and excessive heat caused the processor to heat up like mad, solder melted and then caused the motherboard to warp.

Oh. . . I wonder if it is repairable - otherwise, how long did you have it?

Under the sales of goods act, even if something is out of warranty, if it hasn't lasted as long as you would reasonably expect, the retailer has to get it repaired or replaced.

Oh, picked up a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 and it's a different beast to the Canon one.

It has a depth of field scale, manual aperture ring (though you can't use that with digital SLRs), and when in MF, it's silky smooth. Build quality is better too, and it has a metal mount.

@ Ed

Its beyond economical repair, whole motherboard needed replacement and came to £90 including parts and labour. It was one of the very first and warranty was voided once I tried to change the fan. Its pretty useless now apart from a cool looking see through case.

Here you go guys.....

We went all the way to Cambridge to take photos of a bleedin' snowman!!!:D

The cyclists were mad... you needed eyes in the back of your head. Here are some at rest, when they are not dangerous....

I left my tripod in the car, so I lit this one with flash.

Yup we made it back in one piece, but boy what a long day! Great to meet all new people too :)

Pity I dropped my Lee Filters Foundation Kit in the River Cam  Expensive booboo.

Will probably get round to doing a few pics later, not feeling too well today, am still in PJs :)
