So from when you got your first (D) SLR camera, when did you get your first L lense?

What was it and what did you have to sacrifice to get it?

I will get mine in about 30 years if i start saving now.

Also... check out the "What L's do you own" thread

Bought a 350D in October of 2005, then a new non-IS 70-200mm f/2.8L in February of 2008, followed by a second-hand 24-70L this summer. I threw my own money and borrowed some from my family to get them, so I was in debt for a little while, but it's all paid back in full now, whew! :D

I've got the bug! :(

First L was the 24-105L from my wife for Christmas. Almost immediately after came the 70-200 4.0L. It is addicting. When you realize take care of it, you can resell it for almost as much as you paid for it, it's not too painful.

I had a 70-200mm f/4L non-IS USM for a while. Magnificent lens, but I returned it due to cost and my lack of usage. I will be picking it up again soon when i start shooting things that require the focal length.

Got a used Drainpipe off eBay about 2 months after I got my 40D. It was an absolute steal and has served me well so far.

My first L with the 70-200mm F4L. I got it about 2-3 months after I got my 20D. Still have it and need to sell it. I upgraded to the 70-200mm F4L IS and then recently to the 70-200mm F2.8L IS. I still need to sell both of my F4Ls.

Just got my 1st L 24-105mm Lens about a week ago.
Took me 3 months to save it....to own this lens....
is a good walk around lens and combo with my 10-22mm and 50mm f1.4.
so this is the 3 lens I carried all along...

I felt this lens is really worth it..
love the IQ and solid feeling...

Target to get another one... have to start saving again.....:(

Got the 24-105 and the 70-200 2.8 IS when I bought my 5D - still
unbeatable IMHO, at least for what I do most.

My first DLSR was a Nikon so never bought an L for it.

My second DLSR was a Canon 40D and I bought my first L was the 70-200 2.8
and I purchased it about three months after getting the body.
I bought my second L about a two months after that and it's a 28-70 2.8.

I don't need or really want another right now......pretty happy with the ones I have.
