neat, but are they into photography to understand what youve done? If theyre into the hobby its awsome, otherwise it might be lost on them.
Very nice pic though.

The depth of field probably should have been increased, then you could have gotten the Red Ring more in focus... you know, because all rings need those. :)

I should have explained a little more, this is my and my wife's wedding rings, so it is for us, and fortunately we both love photography :D

As far as the depth of field, I was looking to have the focus be on the wedding rings, but have the lens stuff clear enough to make out what it was for those who would recognize it

Yeah - although the wife might not like the red ring competing with her ring  ;)

Depending - the lens could have cost more than the rings!

what lens did you use to shoot this? I have a hard time getting my rings completely in focus and sharp. Is there a special technique I'm missing? Thanks!

Canon 1D MIV (Sue Bryce's), Canon 50mm f/1.2L, Canon 24mm f/1.4L, Canon 135mm f/2L. Canon 100mm macro f/2.8, 2 580exII, 2 Sunpak 383.

I used the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro (set at either f/2.8 or f/3.5 - I think it was f/3.5). I bumped the contrast +1 or +2 in DPP. I think the only sharpening was when I resized it in photoshop using the bicubic sharper method.

To get focus just right, I used live view on my 40d, which was mounted on a tripod and the shutter was activated with a remote. Off camera flash just to the right of the camera bounced off of a somewhat flat white finish door (kind of ended up with a bit of softbox effect?)
