It's always nice to try something new. Another action you may like is LOMO. Google it. It's pretty wild too.

I have the lomo action and it is pretty wild but you have to have the right pic for it to look good. A couple other ones that are kinda like the lomo is urban acid and professional retro

Here is how I do my b&w conversions...(I use photoshop cs3)

~bring up the pic

~go to image, mode then lab color

~now at the bottom right hand corner..click on the channels tab and click on the eye on the a and on the b so they disappear

~go to image, mode then grayscale

~then image, mode then RGB color

and there's your b&w. I then adjust levels or curves

To add the "chocolate" look...

~follow the same steps above then...

~layer, new fill layer then solid color

~pick brown...you can choose a light brown or dark brown (I usually go pretty dark)

~make sure you click back on the layers tab and just lower the opacity (I usually end up between 20% and 30%)

and that's it :)

I've been using Picassa 3 for grayscale conversion and I think it works pretty good.
