I don't think so cause I'd already paid for it when he told me.

i just this morning had a scooter delivered for my lad for xmas, we paid for it 3 weeks ago and the dealer has just told me that everything imported from China/Japan will increase by 10-20% in the new year due to the falling pound.

I don't think this is the good time (financial crisis) to make such a price increase. And I often heard that potential 5D2 buyers (on canonrumors website) are delaying because of black dot issue. Coupling with this price increase, this will kill the 5Dmk2 market. But if Canon wants...

I heard that too, yesterday - i.e. that Canon would push prices by "up to 20%". I'm never sure how much to believe that sort of rumour though...

The guy was also telling me that Jessops was on the way down - their share price is basically zero and Canon are apparently calling in their debts. But this was in a London Camera Exchange, so perhaps it's not surprising :)

appleguy - how much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? I *literally* just got back from town with my 5d mk2 body and it's charging as we speak!

If demand still exceeds supply they may well but I won't be buying. My 5D cost £2,000+ 3 years ago and could buy one new now for half that so expect that the mk2 will be less in several months, regardless of exchange rates.

Strangely though, my 1D3 has only come down a small amount in a year so I may be all wrong! :)

I paid £2000 for it with a nice bag and a really cheap-ass 4 gig memory card as part of the deal.

Hi,

If you haven’t noticed, Canon have just (1st Feb 09) just increased their prices on DSLRs; the EOS 5D Mark II has a SRP of £2690

Visit: http://www.canon.co.uk …/EOS_5D_Mark_II/index.asp (external link)

Lower bank interest rates are reducing the value of the Pound, againt the Yen

In the same shop couple of weeks ago it was £500 less.

Amazon's prices for the 5D Mk II have increased a fair bit in recent days:

Body only - was £1899; now £2163.45.
Body + 24-105 - was £2399 (yesterday); now £2985.10.

Ouch. I guess that means I won't be making an impulse purchase of a new (and not really needed) camera.
