17-40L after 6 months of 28-135 kit

Sometime miss the IS, but the "brilliance" of color from 17-40 makes that irrelevant. Currently, it is on camera full-time.

My first L was the 70-200L f2.8IS. Got it a week or so after my first 40D (which has been sold). Still use it frequently for volleyball, basketball, hockey and portraits. But my love is my 300L f/2.8. An absolutely awesome lens. Now I'm saving up for the 400L f/2.8!!!

Maybe the wife will get me the 400 for Christmas. She got me the 300 for Christmas last year!

About 6 months. Got an XTi in March, and a 24-70 in September.

I guess about a year after buying my 20D, I got a good deal on a 70-200mm f4. I shot with it for about three months, and bought the 70-200mm f2.8. Then I purchased a 17-40mm f4, and I'm thinking about now about the 24-105mm f4 IS.

24-70 f/2.8 (or 28-70 f/2*.8 )

My first L lens: about 2 1/2 years after I got my 10D, or about 6 years after switching from Nikon to an Eos 1n.
Up till then I'd never needed anything longer then my 100mm f/2.0

I bought an 80-200L, which I still use.

It's a nice lens, but it's just that :p

24-70L was my first that I bought after 6 months of doing photography for clients. I had been using non-L primes prior to that (50mm f/1.4 or 85mm f/1.8).

Second was 70-200L f/2.8 IS
Third was 135L
and fourth was 17-40L

I got my first lens secondhand, It was the 70-200L/2.8 non-IS. I first wanted to buy a 5d next to my 40d, but I thought this was a wiser investment. Althought I saved up a longtime for it, I've never regretted that decision!

A couple months ago I got my second: the 17-40L. Now I am saving for the 5d-mk2!

Just now put half down on my first L. 70-200 f/2.8L non-IS. I asked for nothing but gift cards for Xmas from my family and my wifes family for my local camera store, and they all delivered!

Felt awefully weird to walk in, hand them $650 basically and walk out empty handed. Well, almost empty handed. On my way out one of the ladies at the counter said "hey, did you get one of the new Canon 09 Calendars? They're free!"

$650 for a very nice calendar. Good deal eh?;)

$600 later I'll be super happy!

Hoping to have it picked up way before the January 17 rebate deadline so I can use that extra $80 toward filters.

So excited about this!

Edit: got my current XT back when it was a new model, so it's been that long before getting my first L. So, 3 years or so, give or take a few months. Yeah... it took me a while, I know.

My first lens was the 70-200 f4IS, followed by the Tamron 28-75, followed by the Canon 10-22, followed by the Canon 85/1.8

All in 6 months.

I may buy a macro lens but I am happy with all my lenses although the Tamron had to be sent in for a random focus issue; slighly off sometimes but enough at 2.8 to make the image unusable, and also for a halation problem at 2.8/75mm... Both problems were fixed.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
