I guess addiction to sports cars does put photography in perspective!

This is a cropped image with some very light processing of the moon taken a few minutes ago. It was shot at ISO 200, 300mm, f/5.6, for 1/1000 sec. Not the best moon shot, but the best I've been able to get so far (couple of telescopes included) and this was done on a monopod:
Canon 450D XSi, Canon EOS 50D, 10-22 f/3.5-f/4.5, 17-40L, 18-55 IS, 28-105, 50mm f/1.4, 70-300 IS, 70-200 f/4L

The clarity is nowhere near what I've seen in some other photos of the moon in this thread so some tips would be helpful

I have only had the DSLR for about a month, but the Sigma 28-300 I gave to a friend of mine pales in comparison to this lens (and this is far from the best image, I know):
Canon 450D XSi, Canon EOS 50D, 10-22 f/3.5-f/4.5, 17-40L, 18-55 IS, 28-105, 50mm f/1.4, 70-300 IS, 70-200 f/4L

Thanks for any help you can give me I've read in previous posts here that f/9 is often the sweet spot, and at least on my copy of this lens, that seems to be so. John
