I just had to post one more. :) Me disassembling the EP-EX15 II eyepiece extender.

Picture was taken with inbuild flash bounced from my glossy laptop screen and EF-S 17-55mm lens with hood on so nearly all light would be bounced. The effect is quite nice. Very little post-processing (and a little bit of cropping..).

I don't think you need to noise ninja the first picture at all. The noise wasn't that apparent, plus you lost some detail on the face (which is all well and good for a portrait, but you should do the skin smoothing, not let noise software do it for you).

Do the noise reduction early on in the PP, correct me if I'm wrong. Sharpening last.

Just make sure you sharpen after noise reduction otherwise you will sharpen the noise.
