Very nice, Michael, but it doesn't look like a club picture! :-) Since I know it was a party maybe you should post some of the others.

Who was being rude?

NYE im everywhere and im no where at teh same time. jk

Fergie, Carmen Electra, Jenny McCarthy, David Spade red carpet at 8pm The Venetian, then 9:30ish Pete Wentz, Ashlee Simpson, Heidi and Spenc, Kim kardash at Caesars.

Then 10-2am Bouncing back and forth fro Tao and Lavo nightclubs tentatively.

YOU SURE YOU DON'T NEED SOME HELP WITH ALL THAT...especially with Kim Kardashian! ;) LOL
I would love to go back to Atlanta and shoot a few clubs there. for NYE..but that place is like Fort Knox if you don't know anyone!
The last time I was there...I met 3 photogs...only 1 of them would talk to me on a friendly level. The other 2 kept circling to get a glimpse of my gear, and kept rollin up on my shots after I got girls to pose! When I tried to approach them, they were arrogant as $h!t! ARGGGH!

hehe, at the end of the night, the other photog's and I play flash tag. Basically the game entails getting the funniest picture of the other photog working or doing whatever. It's like urban combat, but you get to laugh your ass off. I got them beat with my monopod remote setup plus my military and ninja training really pans out.

sneaky like a Frenchman... plus it's really easy to get drunk patrons to do your bidding like making funny background faces.

Control @ Avalon Hollywierd: Mr. White, DESTRUCTO, AC Slater and Surkin-
Great night. Great DJ's, Dancing, ect. Bad day for shooting photos. I wasn't feeling well. A buddy borrowed my flash and didn't get it back to me in time. So had to rock the on-board or no flash at all. Then... the damn door-man was hassling me about the camera... THANK GOD I got on the media list. I wasn't sure if Destructo was able to do it or not and when I pulled my "I'm on the list" card... I actually was. Nice.

I couldn't get too many decent pics of the club-goers... so I took a ton of DJ/Stage pics. More can be found at keepitsquare.com.

It's like a car meet (in the street racing days). People would come jock your car... and give looks and what-not... but they'd always keep their mouths shut and never try to make friends.

I just laugh cause you could have a rebel xt and the guy jocking your gear could have a 50D and take horrible pics.

Here's a shot from a friend's 40th birthday party. Just messing around with on-camera flash.

That pic is awesome btw. I need to go hang with more 40 year olds and their parties! :)

I shot these back in June and I don't remember if I triggered my SB-600 wirelessly or if I had it on the hotshoe of the body of the camera. I really like how the lighting turned out with these photos thou.

Some of mine from a show last night. (external link)

I'd like some criticism. I use apple aperture to edit, and generally just play with the exposure or auto-levels. I find I need to crank up the exposure usually. I was shooting ISO800, 1/40 with my external flash pointed up 45ish.

How can I improve my results?

All of those shots are underexposed and the lighting really isn't flattering. Sorry for being so blunt. Don't do direct flash, bounce it or diffuse it. Go back like 10 pages on this thread, a lot of people have some tips and advice.

Damn this is a long thread!!! I started earlier today and just now getting done. Except for a few breaks to eat and watch the Broncos play poorly I read straight through. Thank you to everyone for sharing their techniques, I now have a wealth of knowledge on shooting club photography. Now I am going to bed it's 4am!!!

Underexposed?? It must be your computer. It looks great on every other computer I look at this thread on.

1, 5, 6, 8 are the really underexposed shots.

Sorry but they are a bit dark on my computer as well. I think your brightness on the comps you are using is turned up a bit. Most of us viewing the pics here have our monitors calibrated in some way.
