Ive got it and it wouldn't make a good light stand. The bolt sticking out of the top of the stands are 1/2 inch I think and wouldn't work with normal light stand lugs/studs whatever you call them. As a background stand it works very well. Ive had mine a few years without problem, the only thing Ive had to do is tighten one of the clamps as I usually have 3 backgrounds on it exceeding the weight and one side sagged a little.

60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

i was planning on using it on location as well easy to take up and down? I know this is asking alot, but do you mind taking a pic of the top of teh stand for me? I would be forever greatful, i like things i can use for dual purpose.

I'm sure you could "hack" something up to make the 1/2" bolt into a 5/8's inch spigot for light attachments, however my best mod to these stands was to get a piece of heavy angle iron and make a single roll holder for the expan system.

If you can picture the following item flipped 180 degrees with a 1/2 hold drilled in the horizontal section. That part would attach to the stand and be locked down with the wingnut.

Using a 4" grinder is very easy to "cut" the grove so that the expan roller can attach vertically... The grove would be at an opposite 45 degree angle and open up to the sky.
