Question for the Sydney plane fans - would Brighton Le Sands be a good place to photograph planes arriving and departing the airport? On maps it looks okay, but I don't know what the terrain is down that way.

Not really a great spot, there are better.

The beach carpark just south of the main runway, and the little park off Qantas Drive are my favourites. The observation deck in the international terminal isn't bad either.

Have a look at this spotting guide (external link). You might want to check out http://yssyforum.net (external link) too

It all depends on the time of day, and the wind direction - for morning landings on 16R, the park on Qantas Drive is great.

Now for some of my photos. Qantas Drive (external link) and The Rest (external link) - they're either at the beach or the observation deck. The beach shots in there were just after the first Airbus A380 arrived a couple of years ago - the beach is at its best for afternoon landings on 34L, unfortunately the wind was blowing the other way at the time.

I only have 500mb/month on my iPhone. But I only use it for email and the odd web page. Mic, who are you with?

With Optus - Timeless plan, so for $130/month, it's unlimited to mobile and landlines, and 3GB data. Much faster through the phone as a modem than using the phone itself, weirdly enough.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

That's exactly what I do. Most of the places I go have WiFi... I have to work out the password for it at work though...

Just get chumy with the guy who knows or set it up, that's what I did

Enjoy work fellas!

Here's a snap from new years evening of the cloud lines that were advancing in front of the southerly change, which happened to blow us in doors after a perfect day as I just finishing the BBQ and our outdoor tables were fully laden. Our guests were put to work to save the tucker from being blown away!

The satisfaction of cooking up the fish you speared that day and sharing with friends is worth the effort!

Great shot, would look good framed and hung.

And with 3GB/month through the iPhone, the laptop is useful when on the move.

I must be so left behind with technology.

I fail to see why people wanna look at webpages in a 2inch screen.. I tried once, and wanted to inflict self harm instantly.

Back from lunch :p

I want to get just the basic data pack, $4.95 for 25MB, just for basic weather updates and occasional MSN.

Agree 100%. Same thing with watching movies on ipods etc. What a waste of time! You can barely make out faces. Also, I don't want to be contacted 24 hours a day from people. I could think of nothing worse than my phone going off telling me I have emails, msgs, and phone calls. I barely even answer calls let alone the rest. :p

If you need to look something up when you're out, it's great. Email on all the time? It's great.

I prefer to use it as a modem rather than a device to look at things on, but if I don't have the laptop, it's a fine replacement. It's a decent-sized screen.

I've got an HTC Diamond... 640x480 LCD, it's ok to look at :)

It's a nice to have... but I had some issues with them today (I guess they might be operating on skeleton staff so some staff are clearly not multi-skilled or cross-trained.

Ahh fair enough. I'm on the $60 cap on Optus. It includes $350 of calls/text and 500MB of data. Working great so far. :)

I've already asked my manager. She doesn't know what it is though. We have a contract tech who set it up. :(

On another note, I just upgraded to the 20Mbit ADSL 2 on Internode. Currently syncing at over 20Mbit/s and getting download speeds of 2.1MB/s. :)
