I picked up a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 about 3 weeks ago and I love it. If you want a wide lens you cant go wrong with it.

I am currently looking for a good "walk around" lens and am probably going to purchase the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 tonight. I would love to go with the Canon 17-55 f2.8 but I cant seem to see the x2 price increase from the Tamron.

WAIT. You have an EFS 17-85 and you want something wide angle w/o distortion, yet you are considering the 17-40 or the 16-35 which are essentially JUST as wide as your current kit.

What's the point of that? You're getting nothing for another $1000. If you want wide angle on crop, the smartest choice appears to be the 10-22mm.

Sell the 17-85 and replace with the 17-55 IS. Best lens in that range on the 1.6 crop.
