Whats with that big fat collar attached to that big white lens? Looks like a tripod mounting ring to me! Whats a plate? I'm guessing he knows that. Some photographers like to have a quick release plate on ever camera body and every lens tripod collar. Perry | www.perryge.com

And those plates don't work while attached to the lens collar rather than the camera body?

Seems to me that if you have one plate attached to the camera, then it could just as easily been attached to the collar. Yes but that defeats the purpose of it being a QUICK release plate. One for each camera, one for each lens with a collar. What if he swaps lenses? Then he'll have to remove the plate from the collar, reattach to camera, etc. If you only have one plate, it goes on the camera, and then you go buy more. Perry | www.perryge.com

Probably trying to support all the weight of a big lens on the tripod mount hole of a plastic entry level battery grip. 60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.
