Here's my contribution:
single strobe to camera right with 22" beauty-dish.
f/22 1/320sec ISO 3200 - deliberately as I wanted a dirty / grainy look.

Thanks for looking! :-)

My son on our recent trip to the Salton Sea. Single 430ex with Omni-Bounce fired camera left via Cactus triggers.

How about this with a single, handheld strob used to "paint" the monument.

I haven't done a "one light" for a while, and, well... this one was sorta forced. My studio rental time was already over and I was pushing my luck, but we wanted a few with this dress.

One light makes things easier, so these were all done last minute with a large octa (front diffuser panel removed) to camera right, a large softbox (turned off) acting as a fill card to camera left, and a large subtraction panel further back camera left.

Processed to emulate film.

Here's another one that I entered into a DPC challenge. It didn't do that great, which is understandable.

Anyways, the lighting detail is pretty simple. Just one large softbox from the upper left hand corner of the frame, and a large white reflector at the bottom left. The rest was just the ambient light.

^ Nice shot! That's the kind of shot I'd like to work towards. Here's a few more random one light samples:

-Here's one with a single strobe used as fill:

IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3236/2979785411_2e6c66dfae.jpg

-Here's one with a Sunpak 383 above and to the right of the camera (set to bulb):
IMAGE: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3055/3100216858_e4c672a9c1.jpg

-And finally, one using a Sunpak 383 fired through an umbrella with white poster board to bounce the light around the bottom and right of the camera:

This is a single Dlite4 to camera right, with a reflector camera left opposite the light.

and one I just took with the Softlighter. Love this modifier!!! Hate that I chopped her hands but I was more worried with the lighting on her face, not the composition.
