STopped in my local dealer shop today - just talking what's going on. Thought I'd ask if they had a grip for my 5D Mk II (I really doubted they'd have one). Well, the computer showed one came in and it sold same day. One of the other girls said she thought she saw it in the accessory drawer - sure enough.
I said I'd take it without asking the price (based on my experience there, it would be Canon's price of $389) - she rang up and said $321 (with 7% tax, it must have been $299).
The grip feels rock solid with it's magnesium alloy construction. It makes a very nice-handling package for my large hands. Balance is considerably improved with all my lenses except the 85 1.8.
For those who are considering getting the grip, I highly recommend it. I haven't tested yet, but I bet I can shoot for days with 2 batteries.
Couple pics.
