Should have a POTNAC Vic. catch up over a few beers, I wouldn't mind meeting all you Melbourne guys. That is unless you both want to keep it as a romantic catch up for two!! :p

But you live SO FAR AWAY :-)

And yes, we should :-)

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

I'm always up for a beer. I'll have a new local to get to know.

Ah, I screwed up and missed the cutoff for that one :-( Honestly, could Flickr have made their forum software any worse if they'd been trying to?

Richmond pretty much has a pub on every corner. It's unbelievable.

Let's just not go to The Bridge... Last time I was there, the girls were horrible. I'd have preferred to look at any of you blokes in g-bangers I reckon.

EDIT: No offence to the lovely ladies in the POTNAC.

Yes I know - my girlfriend lives there... I also get to The Corner a lot for music and The London is often the meeting place before footy games at the 'G. The Nash will be my new local... it has a massive beer garden that I aim to enjoy.

We went to The Corner for our Christmas party, and I shot mostly with the 85/1.2L, and dropped the background exposure a couple of stops and used the flash. Fun! And everyone loved the pics.

Seriously easy to let others get good shots too - put the lens on f2, flash in ETTL and away they go.

BTW mic, why do you prefer the 550ex over the 580 II, how much of a difference is there between them?

I really only prefer them because I've had one for years, then I added another, then I added more of the same just to keep my workflow the same across all my flashes, really.

So no good reason besides prior ownership and workflow, really :-)

Interesting. Just out of curiosity, what mode or other nitty gritty settings did you use on the camera so that you expose the person correctly yet under expose the background. I'm not very familiar with flashes.
