How far were you from the bird and were you in a hide/blind ???

We've got Red-Tails too, but I've never seen them take any of the MANY squirrels here.
Nor have we ever captured one so near and clearly as this.
I must wonder about the crop tho... was a wider view not possible?

I have some wider shots, but it was very overcast out so the natural light was at a minimum. I was happy how this one came straight from the camera, without any PP or a flash. Here are a couple more, the first is enhanced a bit to take care of the lack of natural lighting (and very soft on his head).
