ok so my longest lens is tamron 55-200mm and i'm finding its just not getting me close enough to the wildlife that is around me and at zoo's. i was gonna get the canon 75-300 because it is $200au which is very aforable but i read here that it is crap.....i really want that 100-400 lens i see photos on the lens photos section but its a tad out of my budget at $2,269au...
my question is what lens would u recommend? or would u recommend i start saving for the 100-400 by canon?
thanks from casey.

ps, to get the canon 100-400 it would take 20ish weeks lol i'm so lame.

start saving...you could consider the canon 55-250 IS but I don't think it would give you the reach that you're looking for.

you might consider adding in a teleconverter (1.4x or 2.0x)

yeah mate I would go for the 100-400mm L, you could always try and get one Second Hand, I sold my mint condition one while back for around 1700-1800.

yes, start saving! That's what I've been doing. 100-400L is my next lens purchase but, by that time, I'm probably gonna have to get rid of my beloved Sigma 70-200 :(

More people should be saving, in general. Look for a used BIgma - Sigma 50-500.

Consider the 70-300 IS for something with more reach at a more affordable price, great performer. While the 100-400 is a great lens, I'm not sure throwing money at every problem is the best answer.

+1....plus it should take you only 10 weeks to save up...and you'll have more reach...

I would not recommend the EF 75-300mm III f/4-5.6... look for something else.

No, don't save a penny. The global economy is in serious trouble and you should be spending all your money not saving.
