Best Buy said I can pick up my 5D-Mark 2 today, but guess what?

Here's a hilarious reminder of why Amazon and Adorama have been getting all of my electronics budget for the past few years...

Denver's Best Buy #211 transfered a 5D-Mark 2 from another store for me and I went to pick it up a few hours ago. This is after a phone call earlier today, assuring me that my order is in order :) and I can come and get the camera this afternoon.

I came over only to find out they had already sold it to another customer. The worst part is that I mailed my current camera body to Canon for service on the way to pick up my new 5D-2 at Best Buy!

I'll call Adorama and Allens Camera in the morning to see who has one to overnight to me. They have a great deal on those SanDisk CF cards, anyway...

This was a great reminder of Adorama's and Amazon's outstanding customer service, better prices, no sales tax, and best of all - a total lack of ill-mannered, short-tempered "assistant store managers" to inflict on their customers.

Bye-bye Best Buy, you old dinosaur!

Why didn't you ask them to put it aside for you? I actually was at Best Buy getting something a week or so ago and saw someone come get one from behind the counter they had set aside for him. I was jealous, to say the least!!

Paul, not only did I ask them to put it aside for me, but I asked them to order it for me. Then I called to see if it is on it's way for me. Then I called again to make sure it is on today's delivery truck and they'll keep it for me until I get there.

So you see, the point of my complaint against Worst Buy is that they DID "put it aside for me". Then, they sold it to someone else anyway. :-)

Ah, well then, that's just ridiculous. Just another reason why Best Buy is the greatest misnomer ever!

Got any links? I could not find the deals. Thanks.

Edit: Is this the Allen's Camera (external link) you reference? I've never heard of them before your post.

Anybody would be upset!

I am, however, willing to put up with BB'S "shenanigans" for a discount. They currently have a 10% off regularly priced items coupon until 1/31. However, the coupon has to be used in-store. I was scoping bestbuy.com for 5DII availability by zip code, and by luck, they had them in stock 10 miles away.

I immediately place the order, bringing the total to $2699 + (8.25%) tax = $2921. Once I got the the "product is available" confirmation e-mail, I went to pick it up.

Once I got to customer service, I told them I had the coupon. They ended up refunding the initial purchase, and I bought it again with the coupon. The price ended up being $2629.

The deal would be even sweeter in a sales-tax free state (Delaware, Oregon)

Hope whoever wants the 5DII gets theirs soon!

Here's the coupon:

Canned Heat, here is the link to Bob Atkins' page with the Adorama CF card rebate deals. Just follow his links to specific products at Adorama.

Edited to add: Never mind, that was an old link to an expired rebate... :-(

Best Buy's arrogant store manager saved me about $250 in cards and $250 in sales tax by proving once again that the internet is the best place for electronics. So much for supporting my local brick and mortar store...

said it before: the only time I was ever disappointed at a bb was the time I went there and the time I spent money there. Other than that. I have had a positive experience.

I generally do OK with Best Buy...

But I never really buy any camera stuff there, I find their prices frankly rediculous on most of it...and stick to Amazon, Adorama or my local small camera store for it...
