Circuit City was always a BAD retailer. Prices were higher than the competition, customer service was horrible. And if that wasn't bad enough, they ran their business inefficiently. The writing had been on the wall for CC for far too long. They simply didn't care.

I hate to see GOOD companies fold. CC was NEVER a good company.

There is a quartet of liquidation companies hired to clear out CC stores...

I think that may be the reason behind some locations having differing prices compared to other regions. I will be going by my local store today to check in on stuff.

As an EX employee, I'm sad to see it go.. mostly for my friends (and the thousands of others) who are/were still employed.

I called around to several of the stores in my local and they told me that they have not carried the lens in a long time ( I thought I saw it on the shelf Sunday at one of the stores) I would love to get a deal like that I really want that lens

Dang, my local CC didn't have one. I'm open to offers from anyone that can get access to one at this price.

I saw a display one at my store in El Paso, TX... but didn't see a new one in box. Hmm what all could be wrong with a display lens that hasn't been mounted, other than finger prints all over the sucker....oh and of course people probably have played with it. I might just check it over, and see if they will sell it at an "additional discount"....who knows.

Just doing my part to pass on the savings guys. Glad you boys could get the jump on the next guy.

Thanks. One queston if I may since it seems to be all over the board here based on region...at my CC they have cheapo 81/2 x 11 Xeroxed signs taped to the Camera Counter saying all Cameras and Accessories 10% off. Did yours have any signs like 30%/50% etc or was the price just marked as such on a display or did you just ask? Thanks.

I just picked one up in Upstate SC. Had to go to three different store, but finally found one. Apparently, it was the only one that was "closed box". I was told they won't be selling displays or open box items for a while. All four stores in the area had a price of $318, but only one closed box in all 4 stores.

Also, none of the stores had a tag by the display - so I made sure to ask the employees to look up the price... While it appears that all of the other camera gear was at 10%, the 100mm macro was surprisingly a good find, so thanks to the OP!

I might wander back into one of the stores in a month or so to see if they have any 430ex II's left when discounts get up to 50-70%...

Got mine in North Bergen, NJ. They did not have the lenses on display so I went to their stock area (walked around and found them below the display counter) and checked the boxes. They only had 2 Canon lenses left. The macro lens and the 70-300 IS. I had to ask someone to check for the price and sure enough it is $318

I saw a lot of Nikon boxes though, but did not check the pricing on those.

BTW Thanks OP!

Got mine 35 miles of Chicago downtown (Gurnee, IL). There was a display model that was all beaten up with no label. Asked a guy how much, he checked on the computer $318, then went to look out the back and found one

Sweet!!! I just bought 2 in NJ. Keep checking prices because I asked the salesman to check the price for me and he said it's 5 something since he checked it 10 times already today. Needless to say his jaw dropped when he checked for me.... $318 Wow!
I'll be selling or trading the other one here when I hit the 30/30 mark for selling.
