Yes, a new bag and of course a new review!!! I spent a lot of time looking for hiking/urban travel bag that wasn't a messenger. I still love my DIY bag but I wanted something on my back that would scratch/bump/hit/etc against things. I looked at the Kata T214, Fastpack series, Flipside series, Slingshot series again, and a few messenger bags still. I found this forgotten jewel and found a few reviews. Everything seemed to point that you had to have the 9x in order to have your 70-200 and camera attach until there I found a post on DPreview that said I didn't! YES!!! Let's take a look.

This is the layout. Yes it's a little thin but perfect for your must haves. That's the Tok 10-17 which I use as a UWA for landscapes and the Sigma 70-200. My 18-50 is next to it with the 10-17 underneath much like my DIY bag setup.

See! It all fits! Camera with 70-200 attached with 1-2" above it. So maybe a TC attached could work or a longer lens?

Under the...lid, there is a zippered pocket. Pretty big, you could put a lot in here including remotes, batteries, anything. I just have my rainjacket for my camera and I'll probably make some kind of rain cover for the bag. It's spacious.!

Getting too heavy? Pull out the hidden waist strap. Hate it? Hide it! Love it!

The front pocket which is once again, surprisingly large. From left to right, top to bottom:Wired Remote, Lenspen/knife/lighter (all in middle pocket), 2 BP511 batteries; Nothing (memory card, batter, whatev), 4GB CF, 4GB CF. Those back pockets are DEEP! The space infront of all that expands and can hold quite a bit. Wanna see?

YES! That's my 430EX!!! Much like the Kata T214 you have the flash in a front pocket but it's still well protected.

Overall I'd give this bag a 8/10. It's great, spacious, and easy to use. Tamrac needs to get on the ball and make a rain cover for their bags!!! I wish the main area was a bit bigger. he design for the most part kills this but it's not bad. Better than the Slingshot 200 IMO because of how it sits on your shoulder. My 200 killed me but this sits a lot better and the waist strap actually works unlike the 200's. I chose this over the Kata because of space which...is almost thing. but this was cheaper! Also this has straps to add things to, the Kata does not. There's also another perk, a mod I found. Someone modded their's to hold a tripod or monopod on top of the lid. So when you open it to get the camera, it's still out of the way but holds it quite nicely. It's just the perfect size for the necessities of hiking or urban travels.
