Not so much a comment but apparently using a large lens will get you noticed at even the most unexpected moments:

^^ to be fair, he probably thought it was a Surface to Air missile launcher and was preparing to take evasive action.

Given the focal length used - that may not be far from the truth!

Yea, a 300 2.8 and 1.4 tc would be pretty big. To bad you weren't using a 600 or larger lens.

I'm not sure a Cub can perfrom evasive maneuvers. They can barely stay out of their own way! :)

I think I just catch some pilots there by suprise. They aren't used to a photographer taking an interest in their activities. I've made some nice personal contact though through sending prints to the pilots I've shot.

I've been tagged at a marathon... I was recognized as "that crazy photographer on the bike with too many camera's". The other newspaper and even ESPN photogs had their eye's on me. Plus, I was shooting video from the 5D with my right hand. Got some cool HD footage.

300 2.8 + 1.4?

That's a cracking shot. 1/125 as well. Well done!

Something like this, I was thinking. But since he is no likely to survive your Stinger shot, he might as well crash into you...."might as well take a few of them along"..

Pretty sure this one would have predated the L-19 which was a Cessna 170 derivative. I'm not entirely sure if this is an original Cub or a "Cub Crafters" model but in any event, I believe this would be an L-4.

Thanks. The 300 + TC on a gripped 40D actually balances quite nicely.

I don't think there would be anything left to fly into anything or anyone after being hit with a stinger...

I was taking pictures (with my 70-200/XT) of a scuba class doing pool skills and afterwards one of the women came up to me and said that I had a really nice lens. I thanked her and she then responded, "It's a good thing my daughter isn't here because she'd have lens envy soooo bad".

I did a lecture on photography at school and a student (non-photo student btw) comes up to me and says "Now that lens is expensive, but that camera looks like it costs 800." Then I gave him a weird look like "ummm... ok? try again, 2700 for the body 1300 for the lens." Then he goes "oh, I work at best buy and it looks like the rebels we sell there" then I said "this is NOT a rebel...".
