Started with an old olympus film compact pns, followed by using my dad's old Nikon F801 with Sigma 28-105mm lens. Went digital when my mom bought a Panasonic compact camera, and went full-steam into photography with the purchase of:

- Rebel xti 400D + 17-40L + 50 1.8II (and other odds and ends)
- 580EXII (not a lens, but yea)
- 85mm f/1.8
- 70-200mm f/2.8IS

bought 50mm 1.8
sold 50mm 1.8 (after one day for obvious reasons)

School me on this one. What are the obvious reasons?

PS- Kudos to the OP for a fantastic idea for a thread....

Considering he bought the f/1.4 model straight after, I assume it was because of the AF and possibly the build.

I said this once in another thread, the nifty only good point is it's sharp. In all other area it preforms poorly, even as a paper weight. *gear snob off*

But for friends i know who are getting into photography i have no issue recommending it to them. To me it's more like training wheels on a bike, you ditch them when you learn how to ride.

Now back to the topic, I'm heavily thinking of expanding toward the FF may it be the 5D2 or a 1DS3 or 4. I'd lub me some FF goodness
