do you guys recommend a telephoto or something from wide to medium telephoto? I like to shoot a lot of portrait mostly, but i do shoot a lot of other stuff....

the 24-105 seems like a pretty good compromise

The 24-70 is recommended as a better portrait lens.

I make the photographs, not my camera.

Just got my 70-200mm 4L (non-IS).

Wanted something to give me more reach than the kit 17-85. This does that nicely. :D

My first L lens was the 100-400. I got this used from a client of mine. I really enjoy this big lens.
Have my eye on the 24-105.

I bought the 24-105 L a few days after Christmas. This is the first "L" I bought.
I definitely see more in the future.

Took me about 4 months and it was a 70-200 f/4. Sharpness? I'm not sure I understood what that meant until I got that lens. I later sold it to get engaged.

My first L lens was the EF 100-300mm f/5.6L lens and I still love this lens. It might have a slow aperture, slow and noisy focusing, rotating front element, scratchy manual focus etc, but it is sharp, sharp, sharp, sharp, sharp!
