In case you were wondering, this is me! With my personal best largemouth bass, it weighed 5 pounds. That is a pretty good size for my area of the world, although they do get much bigger south of here.
The fish won a fishing contest (had to weigh it in at the dock) but was released very much alive after the weigh-in.

Wow! I WISH I could catch 5lb largemouth's around here. I live just outside of Chicago, and the largemouth in Illinois maybe get to 2lbs. Where are you at?

Congrats on the contest win!!

I live just south of the St. Paul, MN. That fish was caught in September in Orr, MN which is about 4 hours north of here. Between me and my partner, we probably caught 100 largemouth that weekend, many of which were between 3 and 5 pounds.
Got a few smallies, too, biggest of those were about 3#. I am trying to find pictures of a couple of my walleyes. Stay tuned!!

I'm happy to see some "trophy" shots on here; it adds to the variety. Thanks, Laserman!

That fish was caught in early September of last year on a little lake called Myrtle Lake, just north of Orr, MN. Got it on top of a rockpile with scattered weeds on, of all things, a slip bobber rig with a leech.
It was a GREAT weekend. I am primarily a walleye guy, but we were getting bass using walleye techniques so decided to go with it!

I drive through Orr every May on my way to Crane Lake Mn. From there, we portage into Lac La Croix for a week of great fishing. We drive right by Myrtle Lake on the Orr/Buyck road. No Largemouth in Lac La Croix though.

Great fish and great picture.

PhotoFranz-

You should give it a try sometime! Orr is my favorite area in the state. Elephant Lake is another good choice....

I have heard a lot about the Bluegills in Pelican lake for years.

Yeah, what was I thinking! Pelican is actually where we were going to go that weekend, but the owner of the resort we were going to stay at got very sick and they closed. So we ended up at Myrtle.
