Saw this on CNN.com this morning, and thought you folks might want to give it a glance, as it relates to Canon's workers in Japan:

Somehow, I don't think my employer will let me off at 5:30 for the same purpose.

I was just about to post this too! Does this keep their employees happier, you think? Happy employees make happy products.

Perhaps your employers don't get as much out of their workforce as Canon Japan does from these guys.... :p

Japanese folk are renowned for working too hard, you know!

I guess its similar to the Spanish siesta, where a nap during the day improves performance, certainly this would improve my performance :)

Australia has a baby bonus to "sponsor" babies to a degree. You used to get $5k lump sum if you had a baby, now they're doing monthly payments, and now it's means tested (before it wasn't so even if you were rich you got it). As a response to the ageing population.

I really do think it got abused by lower socioeconomical groups though. So basically, there's a ton of kids out there who aren't getting what's best for them because their mother popped them out for a bit of money

I've had one or two employers over the years let me go home before 5:30 and oddly enough, both suggested I attempt to "multiply" alone...

The opposite for me... I'd need a nap...

That's been tried before with disastrous results!

So....generally speaking, the wifey couldn't say no when your response is, "Well, my boss told me to do it, my job depends on it..."

At least it would be a good try?
