Ever since I got my macro lens dust has really been showing up on my sensor so I decided to give the lens pen a try.

Just got it in today and all I can say is it the best $10 I have ever spent on camera equipment! My sensor is now totally clean and it only took about 1 min.

Darkened and uped contrast to show off dust better)

After blowing before lens pen, about 6 bad spots with about 10-15 faint spots:

Glad it worked well for you buddy.

And kudos on your Manfrotto 055XPROB and 488RC2 review. It's made me decide to purchase one myself.

I don't know if you have to pay import to get it from Amazon, but online they can be had for about $6.00 -$10.00, although usually the higher in price the more reputable the service.

The company (Lenspen, SensorKlear is a Canadian company out of Vancouver, you can order directly from the website or check with most camera outlets, I have seen them around for years.

I had a horrible experience with wet cleaning on my Nikon D80, and it was finally only solved by using a Sensor Klear. I wish I had started that way!

I also decided that unless I could see dust in REGULAR PHOTOGRAPHS that I wasn't going to do any more f22 skyshot / levels nonsense looking for trouble. If the dust doesn't show up in my photographs, then I don't care about it. I never even checked my Canon 40D during the whole time I owned it (no dust spots in my photos), and now that I have a 50D I'm not going to check it either!

Here's a link to the sad story of the D80 sensor cleaning:

IMO a VERY sensible attitude!
It's so easy to go way over the top about things like this, which in reality, only matter if you can see the problem in normal shots. Nice one Michael...

cheers

I agree, pretty sure I said in my first post that there's no need to do it unless you see it in real world photo's as it could be more hassle than it's worth. But I could be wrong.

They were quite visible in the majority of macro shots I did because I nearly always work on a white background.

I see Lenspen has launched the SensorKlear Loupe and matching SensorKlear II, with an articulating cleaning head to fit underneath the loupe. Anyone got it yet?

By the way, London Drugs carries the SensorKlear under the Optex brand name.

Just got an Optex branded SensorKlear from London Drugs, I'll be using it on my soiled XTi after getting a blower to use first.
