My cousin got engaged recently and I snapped a shot of her ring at the dinner table. Let me know what you think.

I dont think you could get much better. Lighting is spot on, DOF Spot on, Focus spot on...even pulled a lot of detail off the rose petals. Superb!

The clarity is amazing and I feel like it's exposed just right to capture the lusciousness of the rose. Good work :-)

Why does everybody list their gear here?

Beautiful..... the dark red rose is the perfect showcase for the ring!

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Theres a few VERY minor things I wish i could change but I think it turned out pretty nice for what the conditions were.

I like it, but the image is a bit dark. A little bump in the brightness won't hurt & the rose will still retain its delicate details.

Great shot! I would have to agree that the stone is slightly OOF for me. I'm a noob SLR'er and recently tested my 100mm macro on my wife's ring and had problems getting the stone in focus so I'm not sure if there's a trick to it or not. Probably just practice like everything else.

Agreed. At first glance, it just looks too dark to me.

My other nit pick would be to re-frame a bit to put the ring on a 1/3 line; alternately, get closer to the ring to make it more prominent in the framing.

I really like the concept and the placement of the ring on the flower.
