3200 ISO was just too much to bare for the poor 50D in -40, underexposed 2 stops for the lights.

Taken at 400 ISO - a much cleaner image.

I'd be interested in that, celestron, how do I go to submit? I added a few more for viewer's pleasure.

Wonderful shots! I have not seen the lights for almost a decade, last time I was up in the James Bay area.

We used to see them down around Ottawa once in a while, but it has been years.

Cheers,

Done! I can't wait to see if they used them :) and if I got a feature.

I sold 3 of the above prints already, so happy I can make a living out of what I love doing. It's always been my dream to show the world the beauty I see, especially the aurora.

You got your image on Spaceweather, congrats. I tried but got error messages all the time.
Valentine's eve was really great. It was even as high as 7 on the k-scale here. But then I was asleep :)

I'd just like to report a newspaper is doing a feature on these shots as a result of seeing it on the spaceweather.com website ! It really helped to put them up there, I'm getting emails from a bunch of other aurora photographers and meeting some really great people. My flickr is getting lots of traffic too!

They want to do a couple of pages on me as a photographer, to start, then maybe have me doing my own monthly column about adventures encountered while shooting. I'm really excited to see where it goes.

I'll see if i can take a shot of the article when it comes out and post that.

Thanks, Celestron, for showing me the link !

Beautiful Kajuah. I've only seen the aurora once before, almost 4 years ago in Northern Ontario, it was brilliant. These shots are awesome, I love them, and it's such a different world of photography - I would be so lost even beginning to try to photograph these. Congratulations on the article too!

it looks like there is some serious banding in the first and last one... maybe it is just me... anyone? Nice other shots though.. 3rd is my favorite...
