Interested to see how they perform and what is their price.

iamjediknight wrote in post #7335455 (external link)
So I guess my two questions are:

1. The price?
2. Why would someone choose the original Plus II over these (question #1 may answer this :-)

scott.

From Strobist....

. (UPDATE: $199 for the MiniTT1, $219 for the FlexTT5.)

NICE!!!

This is nice
Shouldn't Canon be thinking to upgrade the ST-E2 already?

I've stayed away from RP while waiting for PW to come out with a better product. Compatibility with the rest of the PW line is what makes this an RP killer. I will definitely get a set of these.

I can't tell from any of the pictures whether the Flex has the standard miniphone sync out jack for non-TTL standard triggering. I can't imagine it doesn't but it's not shown or mentioned.

I'm also wondering if using a dual flash configuration will require 2 Flex's or if you'll be able to feed 2 TTL flashes from a single Flex with some sort of an off-shoe cord splitter.

Ya I was vested heavily in PWs already when RPs came out, so it's a no brainer to wait for this when something like the RPs are invading their market.

Dunno about RPs killer, but it definitely will get a lot of hits with the ones already own the old PWs, which is about 99.99% of my fellow shooters I know.

You know... I've met Kevin King, the inventor of the RadioPoppers, and he is a great guy - but I never really cared for the idea of sticking a fiber optic lead on a ST-E2, etc...

I have three PWIIs and will buy some more of those soon with the rebates... and then I plan on getting a few FlexTT5s... I don't shoot TTL often, but when I do, these will be nice!

This is great news. Now I just need to find a buyer for my skyports - lol. Looks like I will be upgrading to PW's soon.

Thanks for the heads up

Peace
Mark

Sync speeds are the key for me. And to be able to so it with PW 2s is awesome.

Not quite sure I'm understanding how these units will work correctly.

Will these allow studio strobes (say Elinchrome D-Lites for example) to shoot at 1/500th of a second with the "hypersync" capability or does that functionality only apply to 580EX speedlites?

If one of these is connected to camera and a PW Plus II is connected to a studio strobe or speedlite, will the hypersync capability still work?

You're only going to be able to take advantage or the higher sync speeds by using the ETTL hot shoe on a Flex, not a standard Plus II. You can integrate the newer units and the older ones and trigger normally, thus the backward compatibility.
