I don't know about the timer but I do believe there is one huge improvement over the G9 and that is that there is a way to attach a shutter release, I do hope this is true.

Yes to both. It has a self timer (2 time settings and "face detect") and a port for the Canon remote release.

It is a fine camera, the last G series I owned was a G2. I went to 10D, a Rebel and then a 20D along with a SD1000 but I found that I missed having a small camera that could be used in manual and shoot RAW.

I don't pretend to be an expert, but I am very, very happy with the G10, it is with me at all times. It is nice to be able to use my Canon accessories like the remote release and flash.

Images look great, even cropped. Not a DSLR but much lighter and portable.

Cheers,
Bruce Watson

Thanks for the tip on using flash on macro shots Jannie. I tried it on some flowers yesterday and it made a big difference. I really like the shots you post!

It does accept a remote shutter release. I got one for six bucks on ebay. It has a self-timer, but it doesn't have an interval timer (generally used for time-lapse stuff).

Yes Shellback, we've had months of grey and rain and I try to find something to shoot no matter what when I take my daily walks. The challenge is to come back with something to download and it's really helping me become more aware of potential things to shoot that I often never even noticed before.

I think you have a great eye. You spot and see the potential in stuff I would walk right by. I carry my G10 with me walking to and from work and during lunch, and I never see anything interesting.

Am I wrong about this? The G10 doesn't offer a timer? I'd enjoy that wider lense, but I'd miss the timer feature, if it's true.

For timing delay on a shot? It has either a 10sec or FaceSelfTimer setting.
