just went to canon service center in Irvine to get my 30d fixed.
I noticed a sign that says starting March 9, all sensor cleaning will be $30.
Not sure if this is for all canon service center or just the one in Irvine. So, if you're close to one of canon service center and haven't clean your sensor, do it before March 9 to get it for free.

Just curious, is a sensor cleaning only free during the 1 year warranty? Thanks.

if its between raising the price of sensor cleanings, and increasing the prices of products.... I can deal with sensor cleaning price increases... plus most of the new bodies have "sensor cleaning" which i assume slows down the rate of dust adhesion to the sensor.

Get a rocket blower, sensor pen, and eclipse solution to do it yourself. It's easy and necessary on a regular basis. Why have your camera out of pocket for a couple days if you can take care of it in a half hour?

You'd think they could just hire some random person to just clean sensors all year around...surely won't put too much of a dent in profits...and its not like you need an engineering qualification to do it :(

Some of us live close enough to drive there and wait the hour or so. I'll be making one last trip down there real soon to have my boys spiffied up. 5D,40D

This is not pleasant news.

First three Canon 5Ds. Some lights (some really fancy ones too). Some glass (maybe a few too many but who's keeping track?). Some cool stamps on my passport.
