I remember lusting over a neighbour's Fuji which was brought back from the Orient sporting an f/1.4 ~ around the same tmeframe too. These lenses were never on the Europenan models. :)

Indeed it is. The Pellix body has a fixed Pellicle mirror instead of a conventional flip-up mirror. The Pellix has no mirror vibration and was held in high esteem in its day by telephoto photographers. Using the Pellicle mirror caused a loss of 1/3 stop of light, therefore the f1.2 lens instead of the ubiquitous f1.4 50mm lens. Here's a website that provides a little more info on this camera:
