Just wondering if anyone used this lens on their 50D...
and if so, how do u guys like the picture quality..?
please only comment if u have used this lens...or u own one
thank you every much....

PS. i got to try this lens out at a local camera store...
and the guy there told me , if you own the 50d , its best you spend money
on good glass (L glass) to get the best results from the 50d.... is this true or was he tryin to sell me?

The 17-40L is a fine lens, he wasn't lying to you.

I'm using it with my 40D. It is my main walkaround lens and does a great job.

that is true for every camera in existence. Anyways, are you asking for opinions on the focal length, or the image quality?

There's a sub-forum for posting sample pictures. Here's the thread for the 17-40.

I'd get the 17-55/2.8 IS over the 17-40L for a crop camera like the 50D. Faster, IS, L optics, more reach. But he is right, the 50D demands high quality optics.

I love my 17-40, I love the colour and the contrast the L quality gives it.

I use it on my 450D.
