Here is a future 1ds2 owner. Or should I say a future 1ds7 owner. My first nephew just turned 4 and he already knows how to turn it on, compose shots in the viewfinder, take the shot. And he even knows which buttons and dials to use in order to chimp.

Well I just picked up a used one, just back from Canon for a clean. They did a crappy job. So how much luck have all of you had keeping this thing clean? I have been using the Lenspen cleaner on my mkIIN and 40D with fairly good success. Used the wet method too. Any tips for cleaning this monster, because I know it's going to get dirty.

thatkatmat left one of his eyelashes in my 1ds2's viewfinder, but other than that, I just use a rocket blower every few days on the sensor and I've never had an issue. I've never wet cleaned any camera I've owned but YMMV depending on where you shoot (mostly street for me, but I never get gunk that doesn't come off with a blower... and I never check it past f/11 or so since I don't shoot past that).

It is good to have weather/dust sealed lenses to match your body if possible.

When I got my 1ds2, it had a fairly dirty sensor and viewfinder. The sensor was dirty enough that I could see spots at f/8. A quick blow on the mirror and focusing screen cleaned up the viewfinder. I just used a blower and lenspen sensorklear for the sensor and I can't see any spots even at f/16.

Good point. Mine sits with the 16-35 II w/filter on it most of the time.

Yup, with a weather sealed body, I haven't seen any visible dust on the sensor when using my sealed lenses. This was not the case with the 30D.

I already used the blower on it. New lens pen will be here tomorrow. I shoot a lot at f/22 for ground shots of prop planes for blurred prop, so you get to see all the crud.

I went to Cozumel, Mexico, which is a small island about 50 miles south from Cancun. I went to dive & enjoy this years Carnaval festivities (same as Mardi Gras). I'm a Destination Expert for Cozumel on the Tripadvisor forum so took lots of photos of my daily activities using my G9 for underwater use or on the beach if I thought it might get wet, plus the 5D2 & 1Ds2. Here's a couple from this years opening parade.

Just received my 1Ds MarkII today! Upgraded from 40D. What an amazing camera. Here's one of my first pics just foolin around...not very flattering. Handheld with 24-70L and Metz 58(bounce main on the ceiling, with the secondary on my face). No PP just a straight Jpeg.

Those are all from the 1Ds2, and I'll add a few more once I get more on line.

It is so amazing. Shooting with the 1ds is just in another world. I am going to be shooting all this week, so I will post up some serious pics soon. I never been more satisfied with a purchase. And I can finally utilize that 24mm on the lens....the crop body completely negated the wide angle. But now I have to upgrade my teles!
