Mistitled my earlier version of this post; sorry.

I keep looking for better solutions when bouncing isn't a good option. Love bouncing off of walls, not too crazy about bouncing off of ceilings, and sometimes they're too high anyway. When necessary, I use a home-made fun-foam light scoop which does a decent enough job, but I'm always looking for something better.

Has anyone tried this?

I'd replace the silver umbrella with a 20" translucent that I have. It's be nice to move around a wedding reception without thinking about bouncing and just fire away, getting slightly off axis quality light. I assume it's effective, but how cumbersome and obnoxious is it to work with for a few hours at a time?

That is a very interesting idea. I would assume you would get much better results using your flash on a normal bracket, and you could use TTL also.
