@Lani Kai - There are plastic connectors that hold it together and one has snapped off, have upgraded to the 1.4 and locked my son away :) I mean lens away

No there wasn't, Mercury is just trying to explain away the atrocities he/she is seeing "it was a FD lens, it was a FD lens, won't work on EOS camera, useless"

The 'Ultrasonic' on the side of the body should be a clue too, as long as you also know that there were no FD AF lenses with ultrasonic motors.
