Welcome to the 40D club! However, if you don't want your CC to melt, I suggest you stay away from this place! ;)

Seriously, I love my 40D, and you'll get a ton of great info on this place, not to mention finding some good deals on gear. Be warned though, you will now look at all other non-gear purchase in the "Hmm, I could probably get that lens/flash/etc. for what I'm about to spend on this." light! See, it's all about the light! :D

Hey, congrats!

And just for the other lurkers out there that want to get started. Don't feel like you have to spend say even $500+ to get a great DLSR.

I've seen 20Ds go for $250, and they are MILES better than the P&S cameras out there for around the same price if you want to take your photography to the next step. We've come to the point where DLSRs have become affordable to a lot of people. Think lightly used if you want to save some money as well. :)

Thanks for the good replies and welcomes. I have spent the better part of the last two days with a book titled Canon EOS 40D by a David D Bush.

He really puts it in clear language, and lo and behold this camera is smarter than I !!

200 training clicks and never left the house.

The challenge is what will I remember tomorrow.

thxs everyone.
