Sminthurinus elegans. This little springtail is very small at around 0.50mm. I could only see it with a magnifying glass. Canon 40D, MP-E65 with MT-24 flash. ID confirmed by Frans Janssens of Collembola.org.

I haven't shot one of these although I have recoded five other Sminthurinus species so I know how tiny they can be. Good detail.

is he swinging on a thread of spider silk?

edit: nevermind i see that he's on the ground now, and it was his back hairs that made the illusion of him tight-rope walking :)
