Yes....I also sent a question to them asking for clarification on whether the grips were identical in either package. Nothing as yet.

Someone took apart there BG-E2N and found a metal gear. I'm guessing Canon did that to fix the striping problem some folks encountered. I'm wondering if they included this in the aftermarket clones. Anyone want to find out ;)

I think the report of the metal gear in the N version was questioned and in the end it was thought to be plastic just like the earlier version... But I could be wrong on that. I don't remember where the thread is now.

Well I'm yet to get a response but have now placed an order based on your post above. Let's see how long it takes to get to Sydney.

I passed on these. My "sale of sales" order from Henry's finally shipped so I'll be using another Canon grip. The sale was a Canon grip, Canon BP-511a battery and a small Canon shoulder bag for $128.xx in US funds shipped to my door. A deal too darn good to pass up.

Jon.

Did you get the BG-E2 or the BG-E2N?

I think I paid around $70 for my Phottix grip, about 6 months ago. Hasn't left my 40D since. Really pleased with the build quality, considering the price.

I agree, despite the battery thing I mentioned, my similar grip really is awesome. It wouldn't feel natural to me now if I didn't have a grip-shutter..

Sorry, it's actually the BG-E2N.

The Phottix battery Grip + 2 Batteries arrived today....1 week since order which is pretty good (HK to Australia).

Working like a bought one. The only negative I could say is that the "generic" batteries must have a slight difference in casing design than the Canon batteries. The right hand latch doesn't stay locked over the "generic" battery, but stays locked over a Canon battery. Means you have to hold the battery in while you shut the grip latch.

Other than that....pretty damn happy.

Canon Grip with no Batteries approx $270 AUD
Phottix Grip with 2 Batteries (includiing delivery) approx $115 AUD.....Bargain bw!
