Rubber Grip Material/Tape?

Ok, so question... anyone have an idea of where to acquire some rubber grip material that is similar to the rubber (or whatever it is) grip areas on a Canon camera body? I know that Canon parts sells replacements, but I am looking to put some grip tape on an area that Canon doesnt make a pre-formed/pre-cut piece to fit.

Thanks
Greg

There is a company (forgot the name) that sells an armour shell for the body - a tough rubber material. Perhaps contact them. Neoprene - you can buy neoprene in any size sheet or strip with an adhesive backing. If we weren't talking about cameras, friction tape would come to mind. I'll bet there is some kinda tape that you could use.

They sell self-adhesive stair tread tape in black finish, but it's scratchy. I have seen people use it for knife handles. Grips like a mo-fo.

If you have Grainger close by they have a variety of products available.

Sports store or golf store = Grip Tape for baseball bats or golf clubs

Hardware store or material store = Rubber sheeting and glue or double-sided tape.

Anti-skid is a good idea for knife handles because it's good for wet conditions. You don't lose your grip in tactical situations. But, using it bare-handed, you can scratch your hand up pretty good sometimes. Plus the material is like sandpaper, and the grit does come off. Not something to put near lenses and camera mechanisms.

Trying to get the textured rubber material similar to whats on my 10D 20D, XSi and Canon BG grips to make a similar trigger wrap and back thumb wrap area on an XT for my daughter as well as on the the same location on a Rebel IX (APS format) and a Rebel G2 (35mm).

I know about the camera armor stuff... it HUGE. Not looking for something that big. Just trying to get a little more tactile feel on the grip side and back of some older slick bodied Canon cameras that are still in active use.

I was wondering about this too. For example, I wonder if Canon sells replacement rubber grips for the XSi or 40D, and if it would fit on the SX10 IS.

Canon Powershot SX10 IS. Lensmate adapter, Hoya UV HMC filter.

There are pre-cut self adhesive rubberized grip things that are intended to be applied to cell phones and PDAs to allow you to set them on a surface in a car, yet not slide around as you accelerate/decelerate or turn. I have put these on my GPS unit for that purpose, particularly for when I use it in a rental car rather than in my own auto. I have also applied them to strategic locations on the outside of my laptop, so that it is easier to slide my laptop out of a shoulder bag...I don't have to squeeze on the laptop so forcefully to slide it out. Brand is eGrips; they come in black and in silver and clear.

When I lived in the States I used a company called McMaster-Carr. They are a big mail order industrial company. Also you can try MSC Industrial Supply. They both sell lots of stuff like what you want. It would surprise me if they didn't have what you want.
