I own a nifty and a 60/2.8 macro amongst other lenses.

Here is my question...do I need to keep the 50/1.8 around? I understand it is faster (and lighter) but is it overkill to have both? I like both lenses but I don't know how much I am really losing by sacrificing the 50. Please enlighten. Thank you.

If you use it, why not keep it? It's cheap enough that it probably isn't hurting your bank account.

you raise an excellent point, I think I will keep the little guy around. He was my first purchase (not including the camera and lenses that came with it that I never use) and it isn't a bad lens by any means.

why not sell the lenses that you never use instead. Use the money to buy something you will use.

How often do you find yourself shooting at f/1.8-2? For the $60 or so you'd net by selling it, I'd keep it.

I think it's worth keeping both unless for some reason you need $50 quickly for some reason.
