I just got back from Valley Forge National Park and got some nice deer shots. I'll post them here later tonight (hopefully). The 100-400L performed wonderfully (as always). I did set the focus limiter, as once the lens decided to zip between MFD and infinity, and as well as know. this "zip" can be a little slow But the IS seemed to work well as at the start (it was RIGHT at sunrise) I was at ISO1600 and 1/100s, but as the sun rose, I was able to bump it down to 800.

Just to add, who would have thought you would need gloves in April? My hands are STILL thawing out

Ah well Been busy with work and not feeling like post processing things lately

After using this thread as a big reason for buying the lens a week ago, I forgot all about posting some images from my new lens to give something back!

I have already posted these elsewhere on the forums, but they are my two favorites so far.

yep, but the turbines are limited to that speed only by the controlling body in Aus. (not sure of the american rules) Their potential is much faster. It's only doing about 50 mph here at a guess on short finals, I can see them at that speed!

To the best of my knowledge its 250 mph max here in the US in order to stay within the scale (1:5) rule...

Thanks Geno DM. I lose the exif when I output DPP into 16 bit tiffs

1/160 F8 ISO 200. @ 400mm

This is a 100% crop with no mods whatsoever. The original one I posted above has been sharpened slightly in PS, and prob some levels as I always seem to do. I guess for a lens thread, it kind of defeats the purpose to post a PP'd one without an untouched one next to it?

I cropped in DPP to 768*1024 and outputted the RAW to JPG with no resizing, so you can see the exif. I did have to go into PS to make the file size to <150K. originally out of DPP it was 300K.
Funny thing is even when I look at the exif in vista, I only see the basics of shutter and F stop. Where does all the lens info etc go when you export from DPP???

I used my 50D and set it to live view at 10 times multiplication for focusing and shooting. i used the 2 second delay so I wasn't touching it when I took the photo....of course.
Live view is worth a motza for this kind of stuff.
