i think i like them but i also echo other peoples opinions that they might look too fake. They might look like they are edited in ps...

Here is one of the two exposure I used SOC, reduced in size, and saved for web. This is the slightly overexposed one. Zero edits. Of course I purposefully took different exposures knowing I would merge them into an HDR image. And of course I could try to make my final version look a little more "real", but I think they look pretty sweet!

Nice shots but a little bit overdone, especially the light beam...

How is the light beam overdone? I didn't do anything to it, except for removing some of the blue color cast it got from processing the rest of the image. As you can see from the original I just posted, that's exactly where it was. If anything, the HDR process removed some of it.

Hope you and your family had an enjoyable and resting vacation. Me and my family are heading to Charleston SC in a couple of weeks and can't wait for some r&r and a little photography ;o)

Yes we did, thanks! Did you move? I thought u were in Charlotte, but your location says SC now.

Still in the Charlotte area, just across the state line in Fort Mill. Mecklenburg county (Charotte) got to where we could not afford the taxes.

On the image, have your tried just using the exposure blending in Photomatix and not the HDR ? This may do the trick, again not that the originals are bad. I think they are quite good for the lighting condition you had.

Ahh... gotcha.

One of them (if I remember correctly) is done with exposure blending, and one is done with tone mapping. But then I did additional edits in PS.

i think the reason the light beam looks overdone/fake is that in the HDR version you can see right through it. It just doesn't seem natural . . . I wasn't sure exacltly why I didn't like it until you posted the original, however.

that being said, I think the shots are fantastic. particularly the second one.

It's near Page Arizona. There are a couple tour companies based in Page that will take you there. The company I used was really good, and based out of a gas station (Mobil?) :) They had a generic name like "Antelope Slot Canyon Tours" or something. Make sure you book a few days in advance, or a few weeks in advance during the busier summer months.
