thanks you guys...

now i'm waffling about not bringing my camera....she asked me directly and I felt put on the spot

You are taking pictures on Sunday right?

aaaaaggghhhhhhhhhhh

Was that your actual response?

That would have been the time to say "you know, photography is my job, it really isn't fun when I'm trying to spend time with friends".

no I just kinda changed the subject:

I said look at [my daughter's] artwork....she completely ignored that and said 'cuz I thought about giving everyone disposables to take pictures but F [husband's name] said I couldn't spend anymore money on the party....then proceeded to say oh I have to go see you later...

You had your chance to explain her what you think about it and you didn't...

It looks like you are going to take the pictures then...

You are correct kosin. I'm just not very good when I'm put on the spot. To get out of it I would of had to lie to her face in front of my daughter and husband and I'm a horrible liar.

Jeni, did u get the memo?
Some people are ungrateful jerks and like to take advantage of others

i got that memo long time ago..lol

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I too have learned the difference between friends and acquaintances. Your neighbor will never be your friend. Apparently they are the type of people that use others.

I recommend taking a few pictures tomorrow, getting them printed at Wal-Mart and handing them over.

Then, when handing over the prints SAY THIS....

"Times are really tough right now and MY husband said I couldn't spend anymore money photographic freebies... then proceed to say oh I have to go see you later..."

Problem solved! She can't be angry because you've given her the exact same excuse to not spend money as she gave you about the instant cameras. She can't be anrgy.

If she is... don't stress... life's too short to waste on people who don't care and love you!

Don't lie, just tell the truth, whole and complete.

I don't know why I am constantly surprised about people's amazing lack of empathy. Does no-one ever try to figure out how other people feel about things....?

I'm sorry but you've had numerous opportunities to tell this neighbor how things have to be and each and every time you didn't. It might sound harsh but you put yourself in this situation and have failed to rectify it so at this point you have no one to blame but yourself. The longer this goes on the worse it will be, you aren't neighbors to them, you are door mats. Leave your camera at home, tell her to like to keep business and pleasure separate and stop letting her walk all over you. If you are a business woman you should be able to put your foot down.

You are right Limber. I fully admit I started this problem (I went against my number one rule) and I'm kicking myself for it.

There is a 40% chance of rain by 2pm. The party starts at 1pm. There is a 70% of rain starting at 8pm. I won't be lying when I tell her I don't take my equipment out in the rain!! Because I don't take my equipment on in the rain. WOOT WOOT!

From what you have described of them, there is no way in hell that I would give them any freebies.

Thinking "no" and telling someone "no" are not nearly the same thing.

Good luck tomorrow.
