I made a bad move today, I got caught with a dead battery! So now I want a spare.

Has any have any experience with the 100's of batteries on E-Bay. Any advise appreciated.

I've had one eBay battery for my XT and it is absolute junk. It is less than a year old, has maybe been charged 5-8 times, and can now hold a charge for about half an hour of shooting. Once it is put in the camera it is instantly at the last notch in the battery meter.

Now the only use it really holds is after a day of shooting I throw it in my camera to get my images off.

Better off getting either another Canon one or buy a name brand one. I have a Duracell that work about as well as a Canon. You don't want to be caught with two dead batteries.....

I have had great experience with 3rd party batteries for my old 40D. In fact I think I still have 3 Canon Batteries for it. I sold it a few months back and got a 1D Mark III instead. I held onto the batteries just incase I bought one again. If you are interested I would sell them to you for cheap. PM me if interested.

*Sold the 3rd party batteries with the 40D Body and kept the Canon ones :)

I've heard good things about Sterlingtek. I haven't used them yet, but I'm about to buy a replacement XT battery from them.

Sterlingtek is a reliable 3'rd party supplier.
