Can't wait to see the truck pull up. But I have a few questions about the cards. CF cards I understand and prefer, but this will also take SD cards. Can I also use SDHC cards? Same card, right? But using two cards at once, is it only to save two image formats at once, like RAW and JPG, or can I fill one then fill the other?

I don't think I have been this excited about anything since I was waiting for the 1D MkI to arrive. Something about the brick, ya know? ;)

I believe you can use SDHC cards as long as you have the latest firmware installed.

Lazuka, the 300 works fine on a MkI and I am sure it will do as well on the MkII. I also have a Tokina 12-24 that will work on the MkII since it is an EF Mount, not EF-s. Gonna love that too.

Hey TooMany, you know it. Been wanting this for a couple years but could never swing it. :)

Brandon, not sure about the 40D. It has had a lot of ERR99 problems last year, but nothing in months now. Maybe it flushed it out of it's system. Or Canon did actually fix it. I will probably sell it after I check out the 1D though.

Yes it accepts SDHC as long as you have the right firmware, BUT you may need an SDHC card reader if you have an older card reader that you use for downloads. You can write to one card, or the other, or both & you can write RAW to one & JPG to the other by selecting that option plus BACKUP. You can even select which card to display images from on the LCD.

Cicopo, thanks for that. I just happen to have several SDHC cards and they were going to waste. Until now. ;)

And I do have a new model card reader for them. Your right, my old one would not do anything with them.

I didn't mean if it works or not, i meant, how does it FEEL on that BAD LAD?

It feels just like the 70-200/4 feels on the 40D. ;)

I actually live in La Crosse as well and am looking in to a 40D in the next couple weeks. Let me know what happens.

Well, it's a great camera, for the most part. The one I have now is my first one. I sent it to Canon for Repairs just before last christmas and bought a refurbed 40D that worked perfectly the whole time I had it. I used it while my first one was at Canon.

But I can tell you, it won't get much use as soon as that brick arrives. Do you ever go to Goose Island? I get down there a lot and if you want to meet there some morning, you can try the 40D.

I do more sports photography than anything, but I'd be happy to swing down some morning.

I'll be sure to check in with you in a week or so to see how it's going.
