The $150 rebate on the 50d with 28-135 and 70-300 comes out to $1900, this combo can be purchased for $1850 regular price from Costco, with free doubling of the warranty and 90 day returns! Am I missing something, or are the rebates on the 50D pretty weak? I was waiting to buy.

Also, no good if you just want the body. I don't need a printer also.

This is generally how rebates work. Yes, having to buy two lenses is a bit much, but the word on everyone's minds right now is recession, and that means less for your money

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

NO NO NO- B & H has the 50D with ONLY the 70-300 for $1700, at Costco I can get the camera the 28-135, and the 70-300 for $1850. That is only $150 more for the 28-135 (should be able to hand it off to my daughter or sell it for a profit) and this is at their regular price, with the warranty automatically doubled.

If you don't need a lens forget the rebate and shop around. I just paid what will amount to $995 from a Canon Authorized dealer for a USA version of the 50D. It will be at the house today!!!

Canon 50D, Canon 100mm f/2.8 IS L, Canon 20-35mm f/2.8L, Canon 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS and Kenko 1.4 TC

I agree....I am not going out and buying a lens I don't need just to dig into the rebate pool and then try to sell the thing and come out on top. Thanks but no thanks Canon, I will just wait it out or look at used bodies.

Yup, they are starting to touch the ~$1000 range. I purchased my 50D a week back from an authorized dealer, and I ended up paying $1012.

Where are you guys purchasing the cameras from at those prices? I'm looking to purchase the 50D but I have not found a price that low.

im in the UK and while the rebates they had on back end of last year were ok'ish, i had a helluva a job getting my money from them, it took 5 months to finally get it, apparently it is some outside agency in ireland who processed it over here, and there customer service was poor indeed
